NSS

National Service Scheme (NSS) is a voluntary program for students in India that aims to promote social awareness and community service. It was launched in 1969 by the Government of India.
The primary objectives of NSS are:

  • To provide opportunities for students to participate in community service activities.
  • To develop a sense of social responsibility and citizenship among young people.
  • To work on projects that address various social issues, such as literacy, health, environment, and rural development.
  • To foster a spirit of national integration and promote understanding among different sections of society.

NSS volunteers, often university or college students, participate in various community service projects, including tree planting, blood donation camps, health and hygiene awareness, educational initiatives, and more. Participation in NSS not only contributes to the betterment of society but also helps students develop leadership skills, teamwork, and a strong sense of social responsibility. It is a valuable program that encourages youth to be active agents of positive change in their communities.
